Respite care

Sharing the care with us

What is respite care?

Caring for a loved one can be very rewarding but we understand that it can also be both physically and emotionally draining. Taking a break and recharging your batteries is vital to your wellbeing and quality of life.

Burton Court and Trent Court provide professional care for people living with mental health issues, complex behaviour and dementia. Our respite service offers a temporary or short-term home from home.

Whether you need extra support while your loved one recovers from an illness or operation, there is an emergency that you need to deal with, or you just need a well-earned break, we are here to support you. You can be assured that your loved one is in safe hands and is cared for in a friendly and inviting nursing care home by our dedicated and experienced multidisciplinary medical teams.

Care is available from as short-term as a week to as long as a few months. We work around you and your loved one’s needs and tailor our care to suit you.

What are the benefits of respite care?

As a carer you’ll be able to take time out to relax, recharge your batteries or take care of business knowing that your loved one is receiving exceptional care in a warm, caring, safe and professional environment. You can visit or call at any time to make sure that your loved one is happy and well cared for.

Respite care can also be a wonderful break for your loved one. It can give them the opportunity to enjoy a change of scenery, try out some new activities and make new friends and memories.

Our respite care can also provide an opportunity for you to find out whether your loved would be happy here in the longer term, if ever needed.

What to expect

Our ladies and gentlemen receive the same level of individual person-centred, holistic care whether they are with us permanently or for a respite break. Everyone has their own furnished room – even for a short respite visit. Personal items can help to make surroundings seem more familiar, comfortable and secure to the person, so we encourage you to personalise their room. Your loved one will be welcomed into the Burton Court or Trent Court family. They will be encouraged to take part in the community life of our home and the many activities on offer.

We have an executive chef who has developed a delicious and nutritionally balanced menu. Special dietary requirements are catered for and all meals are cooked and prepared in-house.
